Marianne Faithfull in Zappa Club Tel Aviv [video]
One of my most favourite singers, Marianne Faithfull (born December 29, 1946), will give a concert at the Zappa Club on November 18th. Marianne became world-famous with the Jagger/Richard song: ‘As Tears Go By’ (1964). At the age of 17 she become the lover of Mick Jagger. Her best album was: ‘Broken English’. She became an award-winning singer, songwriter and actress. In 1987 her style became more jazzy & bluesy. Can’t wait to see her again. This time in … Read entire article »

Allenby 58, from cinema to club to apartment complex
In the beginning of 2000 ‘Allenby 58′ was the place to be: a groundbreaking club, with the best dj’s of the world. Years before it was known as the ‘Rimon Cinema’. It started all in 1930 when architect Shlomo Gepstein was commissioned a plan to design a three-storey block of flats on a plot at Allenby 58. Plans changed and in 1932 a cinema was build. After the 80′s the building crumbled down, until it became a Tel Aviv … Read entire article »

More supporters: Never destroy a historic building
I did found this most interesting article in the Ha’aretz newspaper about the preservation of historic buildings in the city. As the frequent readers of Tel Aviv Fever will know, we support restoration and renovation projects in the inner-city for 100% and are fully against a destruction of an (important) historic building. An historic building is a part of the culture and history of the city, never destroy it! … Read entire article »

View on Peace Wall from Peres Peace House
My co-editor Frits told me and wrote about it on our site before. He is an art and architecture lover and I am a photographer. But now I have seen it with my own eyes, being on a guided tour with Frits. For me it is official now: The Peres Peace House is ugly! There are more reasons for that: it is an ugly building (of 15 million dollars), that looks like an Amsterdam parking house it is difficult to clean and so dirty already it is facing the sea and not the streets of Jaffa / Ajami There is one big benefit since a few weeks and from yesterday. The backside of the building, designed by Italian architect Massimillana Fuksas, faces the Peace Wall, the great artwork of Arabic and Jewish children, in the form … Read entire article »

Official Tel Aviv-Jaffa Guide for iPhone in App Store
It is in the iTunes App Store for several month now, but Tel Aviv has it own iPhone App, VISITLV. It was published by the The Association for Tourism Tel Aviv-Jaffa in May, more than in time for the summer season. A pity I did find it just a while ago. ;-) The app starts with one of the most a wonderful splash screens I have seen (I thought of surprising you by not showing it, but not everyone has an iPhone ;-) ) and contains information about the three Walking Routes we talked about before, cafés, pubs, restaurants, museums, hotels, free guided tours and of course a ‘What’s On’-calendar, which, to my opinion, could be more extensive and more up-to-date… ;-) It is possible to search for the name of a restaurant, … Read entire article »
