A Bauhaus-building in the Dov-Hoz Street no. 8 was used a few weeks ago as set for a new Israeli feature: Snails in the Rain, directed by Yariv Mozer, produced by Hila Aviram and based on a short story by Yossi Avni Levy. One of my most favourite singers, Marianne Faithfull (born December 29, 1946), will give a concert at the Zappa Club on November 18th. Marianne became world-famous with the Jagger/Richard song: ‘As Tears Go By’ (1964). At the age of 17 she become the lover of Mick Jagger. Her best album was: ‘Broken English’. Green Landscapes by Eliora Schwartz-Steimatzky

A new beautiful, romantic exhibition: Green Landscapes, made by Eliora Schwartz-Steimatzky, will open on September the 16th at the Givataim Theatre. (closing date: October the 9th). Eliora was born in Beit Hakerem, Jerusalem. She grew up in Tel Aviv. At the age of 17, she started to study (1965 ) at the Bezalel Academy of Art in Jerusalem. After the army, she moved to New-York and worked for the art-publisher Harry N. Abrams. She continued her education in painting and sculpture at the League of New-York (1978 ). In the 1980s, she returned to Israel. Eliora Schwartz-Steimatzky returns the viewer to the mythical landscape paintings of Israeli artists of the 1950s and 1960s….works yearning to the Mediterranean scenery. Exhibition at the Mani House

Last Friday I saw in the Jerusalem Post this large, beautiful advertisement, designed in the old Dutch ‘De Stijl’ fashion, about the Second Exhibition: Contemporary Art from Collections of The Israel Museum, Jerusalem in the Mani House at Jehuda Ha- Leviestreet no. 36. The Mani House ( 1909) was the second house that was designed in Tel Aviv and restored a few years ago by the architect Amnon Bar-Or. The exhibition, curated by Suzanne Landau and Amitai Mendelsohn, will be on display until December this year and is brought to Tel Aviv by Bank Leumi. … Read entire article »
