Our Tel Aviv Fever website in The Jerusalem Post

Last Friday, Hannah Brown (for years the cinema-reviewer of the daily) mentioned our website Tel Aviv Fever in her weekly column CineFile in the Billboard Entertainment Guide of April 2nd. (a Friday Magazine of the Post). She wrote: “…Finally, you’ve seen the movie Ajami, and now you can tour the neighborhood for which the film was named. Frits de Wit, an expert on Tel Aviv history and architecture who has been living in the White City for over 20 years, conducts walking tours of Ajami. On his tours, he explans the history of the area, from early in the last century and up trough recent years. To get more information or to book a trip, check out De Wit’s website [in fact a joined effort of the two editors - ed.] , … Read entire article »

A new face for Tel Aviv Fever: NOW

I am not really the type for good intentions for a new year, but so once you get to the end of a year you still tend to have thoughts like that. Since we made our jump start in March of last year we didn’t change much on Tel Aviv Fever. Some changes of the engine (WordPress) and some minor details. Now Frits and I thought it would be nice to change the face of Tel Aviv Fever (later), to give it a new fresh look and a few other possibilities and features you might like. We decided to do it NOW. But this is still Tel Aviv Fever: lightweight (technicaly speaking) entertaining a fresh look on Tel Aviv nice looking our ‘old’ style of writing lot’s of, and we mean LOTS of  love for Tel Aviv We will come … Read entire article »

Up against the wall

Three years ago, I wrote on my FaceBook Page: Architecture of Tel-Aviv 1909-1938 about the destructive restauration/renovation plans of the Municipality of Tel Aviv for our national theater: Habima (at the end of Rothschild Boulevard) designed in 1934 by Oscar Kaufmann. Also on our website Tel Aviv Fever, we wrote the last three month a few articles (here and here ) about the ‘rape‘ of Habima. The so called restoration architect Ram Karmi is building a concrete monster (he added two concrete floors) and the front of Habima (all green glass) will be like a shopping-mall. This weekend in the Haaretz-Magazine there was (the neighborhoud started to be awake!) a long article about this culture-crime of Habima, written by Yossi Klein. He writes: “Suddenly, on Tel Aviv’s Tarsat Street, a giant … Read entire article »

Larissa Riahi received the 2nd Tel Aviv Fever Heineken bottle

As we wrote on July the 8th, we made 6 Tel Aviv Fever Heineken bottles (3 are in Israel, 3 in Holland). The first one went to Eytan Schwartz, the ‘big guy’ of all the Centennial events. Our second bottle we gave to: Larissa Riahi. She is original from Amiens (France), studied graphic design. In 2000 she came for six month to a kibbutz as a volunteer. Back in France she studied Art. She missed the life in Israel and she decided in 2005 to make ‘aliyah’ (permanent resident), not for political or religious reasons, just because the love for Israel. Tel Aviv would be here ‘new’ town. She loves art (painting and clay works), music and her openness brings her to meet different cultures and people. At this moment … Read entire article »

We think he is doing a wonderful job, without buttering up… The second bottle will go to… You will see! … Read entire article »

Tel Aviv Diary

Tel Aviv is a great place to be, I knew that. But I really had to acclimatize to it again… Not only the heat, but its pace, the way it smells and it’s noices… But it is absolutely great to be home… I started ‘running’ from day one because I wanted to suck it all into me. I am glad that it is shabbat now… Just for its rest… It’s been a few days that we put something on Tel Aviv Fever, just because of this acclimatizing. Frits and I have been talking a lot. We are there, do not forget about us. ;-) … Read entire article »
