Pictures from the Levine roof

Herewith two pictures, I took from the roof of the Levine House on the White Night Party (May 27th): A beautiful view of the Va-ad Ha-Kila House, on Rotschild Boulevard no.40, designed in 1926 by Dov Hershkowitz and restored by Amnon Bar-Or. Also a picture of a nearby Bauhaus-building (1930, Rothschild Boulevard 48) with a charming detail of his glass-covered stairwell (a typical Bauhaus-design). … Read entire article »

Gay and lesbian couples wed at Pride Parade!

On June the 12th 2009, Tel Aviv will have his 11th annual Pride Parade. This time with an event, organizers believe to be the first ever for such an event anywhere in the world and certainly in Israel: Gal Uchovsky, journalist and film-producer, will marry two couples: one gay and one lesbian pair. A campaign will be launched on the website: gogay.co.il , seeking couples interested in being wed as part of the event to submit their candidacy. The idea is to wed the couples on one of the stages during the Parade. The couples to bewedded during the Parade, will receive certificates from the ‘family-right’ organization New Family. Like every year, the event will start in Meir Park and end with a ‘wild’ party on Gordon Beach. Soon more information. … Read entire article »

This was what you call…a SHOW!!!

Yesterday-evening, I watched from one of the press-towers for an hour, without one second break, an amazing spectacle. Hundreds of thousand of people jammed the Rabin-square and surrounding streets to see unbelievable light- and lasers shows, the most fantastic video-art about “old and new” Tel Aviv, singers, dancers (there were moments with more the 150 kids on stage on roller-skates, dancing and with flags of the three local soccer-clubs). It was ‘gimmick after gimmick’ , e.g. a singer was singing on stage, while her band was playing on a rooftop (!!) of one of the buildings surrounding Rabin-square. At the end…a ‘thundering’ trance-party (DJ); all of Rabin-square, young and old, went ‘out of their minds’ and they just stayed on the square dancing, swinging for a long time. I think … Read entire article »
