Tel Aviv Laila Lavan – White Night – coming weekend
On June the 30th 2011 another Laila Lavan, ‘White Night’, will take place all over the city of Tel Aviv in celebration of the declaration by UNESCO (June 2003) that the inner-city of Tel Aviv will be a ‘World Heritage’ site. Official Tel Aviv-Jaffa Guide for iPhone in App Store
It is in the iTunes App Store for several month now, but Tel Aviv has it own iPhone App, VISITLV. It was published by the The Association for Tourism Tel Aviv-Jaffa in May, more than in time for the summer season. A pity I did find it just a while ago. ;-) The app starts with one of the most a wonderful splash screens I have seen (I thought of surprising you by not showing it, but not everyone has an iPhone ;-) ) and contains information about the three Walking Routes we talked about before, cafés, pubs, restaurants, museums, hotels, free guided tours and of course a ‘What’s On’-calendar, which, to my opinion, could be more extensive and more up-to-date… ;-) It is possible to search for the name of a restaurant, … Read entire article »

Art and the city
Tel Aviv launches the art season , ‘Loving Art, Making Art’, with a city-wide open house, beginning this coming Thursday, October 14th, when over 75 museums , galleries and allernative spaces open their doors from 14:00 until 23:00 free of charge. ‘Healing Art’ sound installations and shows will line the boulevards from 19:00. TEL AVIV: For Ever Young
On a sunny afternoon, April the 11th 1909, 150 man, woman and children left the over-crowded port-city of Jaffa and walked 3 km north trough the hot, burning sand to a spot were they decided about the future of today’s Tel Aviv. Within a few month the first houses for those 66 families were build (Herzl, Jehuda-ha Levie and Lilienblum-street). As for today Tel Aviv-Jaffa population hit an all-time high of 391.300 inhabitants, still quite small compare to cities in Europe and the States.
