First event in the new building of the Tel Aviv Museum of Art
A few weeks ago was the official opening of the beautiful new, expanded building of the Tel Aviv Museum of Art. The Herta & Paul Amir Building is designed by Preston Scott Cohen, an architect from Cambridge, Massachusetts. On wednesday, November the 30th. Tel Aviv ranked 3rd in Lonely Planet list of world’s best cities

Homage to Avigdor Arikha at Tel Aviv Museum of Art
The Tel Aviv Museum of Art will tribute a homage to the Romanian born Israeli painter Avigdor Arikha, who died last April the 29th. The exhibition will be in two parts. The first part, planned with the artist before his death, at the age of 81, includes illustrations to S.Y. Agnon‘s ‘A Stray Dog’ , woodcuts and drawings made during the 1950′s and represent Arikha’s development from the figurative to the abstracts. The second part presents 19 self-portraits: the earliest from 1948 and later ones with his image as a painter, working and observing himself, against the background of the studio and its surroundings. Museum or wedding hall?
The Tel Aviv Museum of Art will host another ‘society‘ wedding on its premises this month. It looks like that the museum-director prof. Mordechai Omer is using the museum the last few month as a private ‘playground’ for his elite-friends. Seven month ago he used the museum for the wedding of Erez Navon, the son of former president Yitzhak Navon (rent for the space was $25.000 ) and this month, January 25th, the wedding will take place of the daughter of Hanina Brandes (law firm Naschitz Brandes). I understand that the museum is using his premises for video-art parties, jazz-concerts e.g.: we are talking about art!! But what has a ‘society’ wedding to do with art?
