Homage to Chet Baker in Tel Aviv
On Friday November 27th at 22:00, the ensemble of Nicola Stilo will give a homage at the ‘cool’ Jazz trumpeter, flugelhorn player and singer: Chet Baker at the Opera House, TAPAC-Center (info: 03-6927777). Chet Baker was born on December 23th, 1929 in Yale, Oklahoma and died on May 13th, 1988 from falling from the window of hotel Prins Hendrik at the Prins Hendrikkade 53 in Amsterdam. Kenny Garrett will be in town
The 48 years old saxophonist Kenny Garrett will have a ‘gig‘ in the Zappa Club on May 25th and May 27th (20:00). More then 20 years ago Garrett got a call from Miles Davis and for the next five years – until to Davis’ death – they played together a flow of highly energized funk and hip-hop laced jazzy outgoings. Garrett just finished his album: Sketches of MD, a tribute to his former mentor, recorded live at New York’s Iridium Club.
