The once Ben Nahum Hotel is today the place to be: Shampina
Last Saturday afternoon I did visit an afternoon-party at the Shampina Bar on Rothschild Boulevard 32. The place was crowded and swinging with the ‘to be seen folks’ of Tel Aviv. Allenby 58, from cinema to club to apartment complex
In the beginning of 2000 ‘Allenby 58′ was the place to be: a groundbreaking club, with the best dj’s of the world. Years before it was known as the ‘Rimon Cinema’. Breaking News: A few hours ago the short documentary: ‘Strangers No More’, directed by Karen Goodman and Kirk Simon (from New York: the Simon & Goodman Pictures Company) received an Academy Award (Oscar) for ‘Best Short Documentary’. It is the story about the Bialik-Rogozin School, a unique school in South-Tel Aviv (near the Central Bus station) with children from more then 48 countries around the world, most of them refugees. View on Peace Wall from Peres Peace House
My co-editor Frits told me and wrote about it on our site before. He is an art and architecture lover and I am a photographer. But now I have seen it with my own eyes, being on a guided tour with Frits. For me it is official now: The Peres Peace House is ugly! There are more reasons for that: it is an ugly building (of 15 million dollars), that looks like an Amsterdam parking house it is difficult to clean and so dirty already it is facing the sea and not the streets of Jaffa / Ajami There is one big benefit since a few weeks and from yesterday.
