Coffee Project at Cinematheque Tel Aviv

Can’t you see I’m walking on air?

Thursday, December 24th at 20:00 will be the official opening of the exhibition: “Can’t you see I’m walking on air” in the Chelouche Gallery (Chissin Street no. 5). The group exhibition is within a year to Gideon Gechtman‘s demise (November 27th/2008) and is curated by Nira Itzhaki. Artists who will take part are: Ori Drummer, Gideon Gechtman , Ben Hagari, Erez Israeli, Miki Kratsman, Hila Luli Lin, Motti Mizrachi, Mira Segal and Gal Weinstein. The exhibition is a gesture to Gideon Gechtman’s (born in 1942 in Alexandria, Egypt ) unique artistic language, and his influences as it finds its expression in the works of the exhibiting artists through myths of death, memory and commemoration. This Sunday-evening, December 6th,the international premiere of Another Way, directed by Yariv Mozer, took place in the Cinematheque Tel Aviv. Another Way is a powerful, sometimes emotional documentary with a strong message. It is the story of Noa and Mira Awad, an Israeli Jew and Israeli Arab duo, who went to the Eurovision Songfestival 2009, during the last Israeli military operation in Gaza and strong resistance from the left and right in Israel. Jerusalem Moments /09 in Tel Aviv

Last Thursday,November the 12th, the Cinematheque Tel Aviv screened the Tel Aviv premiere of  Jerusalem Moments/09, a documentary that leaves you speechless, from artistic director Yael Perlov and produced by Yariv Mozer. Jerusalem Moments/09 shows you 7 short documentaries directed by 7 Palestinian and Israeli directors (Momen Shabaneh, Liviu Babic, Sabri Markesto, Avi Goldstein, Yasmine Novak, Radwan Duha and Daniel Gal). The premiere screenig was attended by representatives of the Embassies of Egypt, Finland, Germany, Italy and Australia. Guests of honor were a group youngsters from Ramallah (Westbank) and East, Arab Jerusalem and Ilan de Vries, director of the Jerusalem International Film Festival. A long, interesting article I did found in Haaretz Magazine (August 14 ) written by Ariel Hirschfeld about the new movie: Ajami, directed by Scandar Copti and Yaron Shani. The movie, about a neighborhood in Yafo, won the Wolgin Prize for best feature film this year at the Jerusalem Film Festival and a ‘”honorable mention” at the Cannes Film Festival 2009.
