Bauhaus 100% Tel Aviv
Mark in your agenda: Tuesday, July 21st from 20:30 until 23:30, will be the grand official opening of the ShenArt Studio & Gallery with a big reception in the Frishmanstreet 21. It will be the start of the exhibition : Bauhaus 100 % Tel-Aviv, a mixed media on canvas by the artist: Stephane Zerbib. The exhibition will close on September the 10th. Even Vincent is joining the ‘Party’
At this moment, you will find in the Rubin Reuven House (Bialikstreet no. 14) an exhibition about (‘our’ ;-) ) Vincent van Gogh. Rubin, born in Romenia in 1893, came to Palestine in 1928. On the boat to the ‘Holy Land’ he met his future wife Esther. They settled in the heart of Tel Aviv: Bialik Street. Rubin died in 1974 and his house became a museum. Esther, today 98 years old (!) is still living in Tel Aviv. The ‘hidden city’ exhibit
One of the more ambitious undertakings for the ‘centennial’ is the ‘hidden city’ exhibit. Thousands of historical photographs acquired from private collections have been ‘blown up’ to magnificent proportions, then hung over main throughfares and drapped over 50 city buildings. One you will find hung over the ‘Hornstein’ House, a Bauhaus-building designed in 1937 by Ze’ev Haller on the corner of Dizengoff- and King George Street. Castro Tel Aviv re-launched
The fashion chain Castro (men’s and woman’s clothing, cosmetics) invested NIS 8 million ($2 million) in their new flagship store at Dizengoff-Center ( the store was first opened in 1985). This month the store will host a exhibit marking Tel Aviv’s 100th anniversary and launch a collection inspired by the first hebrew city. The new store was designed as a loft by architect Uri Ben Dror of studio mu, and will now offer personal styling services, music listening posts and a stand for ordering concert tickets. There will be a ‘Tel Aviv’s Hall of Fame‘ honoring the 100 most significiant people in the history of Tel Aviv. A new collection of shirts inspired by Tel Aviv will be sold exclusively in the store. Student exhibition at TAPAC
Alongside the 2 days conference on ‘urban sustainability’, you will find on the square in front of the Tapac-building a beautiful and interesting exhibition put on by dozens of students from 12 universities worldwide. The exhibtion contend with planning questions for a future Tel Aviv-Yafo under the name: ‘from garden city to eco city, Tel-Aviv 2059′ . The exhibtion will be open until April 7th. Tel Aviv Fever Self Interview ;-)
You both seem nice guys, so what is this Tel Aviv Fever site about? Frits and I (Ed) had met before, but he was back home (he was born in the Netherlands) last september for the Bauhaus exhibition at Delft University of Technology (TUD). Right then we already had ideas for the Tel Aviv Centennial, and spread them, but didn’t get too much reactions. Only last week we decided to bring you the Tel Aviv Fever website/blog.
