The Diva, a documentary
Jeannette (Janet) Ordman is the diva of Israeli dance. A petite, aristocrate woman, who speaks only English and who dedicated her live to dance and her dogs. She was born on November 8th 1935 in South-Africa and began her dance career with the Johannesburg Festival Ballet and later danced with Sadler’s Wells Opera Ballet in London. In 1965 she came to Tel-Aviv to teach ballet and opened in 1968, together with Baroness Batsheva Rothschild the ‘Bat-Dor Dance Company’. Jeanette believed deeply that success demanded not only talent but also dicipline, persistence, dedication, hard work and commitment. ‘Mozer Films’ made a 58 min. documentary (that will be released soon) about ‘The Diva’ of dance. A few weeks ago I watched a 20 minutes raw cut of a documentary about the last two years of this historic pool, made by the film-director Ronen Schechner: it is moving, heart-breaking; Gordon pool was for this people their home. Ronen is looking for sponsor to finish this important documentary … Read entire article »
