Two beautiful booklets…
Today, I received two beautiful booklets: from the municipality a small, handy booklet: People around 100 and from Castro Fashion a special Time-Out edition: The 100 most famous people of Tel Aviv. The pictures of People around 100 were taken by Danny Eshet. Within the handy booklet (11×16 cm) you will find 100 pictures of the oldest inhabitants of Tel Aviv. Number one is Leah Moelem, born in 1900!! The second place: Ada Katselnelson, she was born in 1902. The special Time-Out Magazine is made together with Castro Fashion: here you will find 100 pictures a famous inhabitants of Tel-Aviv (see our item before HERE) Both booklets are only in Hebrew. … Read entire article »

The Tel Aviv Hall of Fame
Because of the Centennial celebrations in Tel Aviv, Time-Out magazine and Castro Fashion decided to put together: “The Tel Aviv Hall of Fame”: a compilation of 100 individuals, coined the Centennial Hundred. It honors the city’s luminaries – people who’ve shaped and molded its cultural and physical landscape from 1909 until today. Some of the honoured people are e.g.: Akiva Arie Weiss, one of the City founders; Haim Nachman Bialik, the poet; Ya’acov Shabtai, the writer; Avraham Slonsky, the poet; Etgar Keret, the writer; Reuven Rubin, the painter; Hanna Rovina, the actress; Leah Gottlieb, founder of Gottex; Stefan Brown, furrier; Arik Einstein, musican; Aviv Geffen, musician; Abie Nathan, peace-activist; David Perlov, filmmaker; Ohad Naharin, choreographer and Uri Avneri, political activist. Castro Tel Aviv re-launched
The fashion chain Castro (men’s and woman’s clothing, cosmetics) invested NIS 8 million ($2 million) in their new flagship store at Dizengoff-Center ( the store was first opened in 1985). This month the store will host a exhibit marking Tel Aviv’s 100th anniversary and launch a collection inspired by the first hebrew city. The new store was designed as a loft by architect Uri Ben Dror of studio mu, and will now offer personal styling services, music listening posts and a stand for ordering concert tickets. There will be a ‘Tel Aviv’s Hall of Fame‘ honoring the 100 most significiant people in the history of Tel Aviv. A new collection of shirts inspired by Tel Aviv will be sold exclusively in the store.
