BBC Radio 3 to celebrate Tel Aviv centennial

A program dedicated to Tel Aviv’s 100th birthday will be broadcast on BBC Radio 3 on July 12th at midnight (Israel time) and can be accessed trough BBC iplayer at: www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer The program will be hosted by Tel Aviv born music expert and presenter Moshe Arad. News: Arik would like to be there…

Just a few minuts ago, Arik Einstein told Channel 22, that he would like to be at the concert in honor of him on July the 2nd (for his 70th birthday). This was the first (short) interview he gave, after 22 years!! He said he was honored by the tribute concert. And when the interviewer asked: “You will come?” Arik said first “NO” and then “Ok, don’t come to get me, I will come on my ‘toos-toos’ (=scooter)” The reporter said after: “So, he won’t come, because he has no a toos-toos!!” … Read entire article »

Arik Einstein tribute

On July the 2nd there will be a large Arik Einstein tribute in the HaYarkon Park. This year it is Arik’s 70th birthday. In the long list of singers you will find Barry Sakharof, Rona Kenan, Ivri Lider, Ninet, Yoni Rechter, Maor Cohen, Shlomi Shabbat – and the list goes on and on. Legend in the Dunes

A 50 segments special documentary Legend of the Dunes is made by film director Yaakov Gross, to celebrate Tel Aviv’s birthday (1909 – 2009). There are scenes of the Britsh High Commissioner Herbert Samuel (1920) seen visiting the Gymnasium Herzliya; scenes about the disarry at the dedication of the Great Synagoge (1933) at Allenby Street; the visit to Tel Aviv (1925) by Lord Balfour and General George Allenby (1933) and…the famous ‘lottery’ for building plot’s in the dunes, 3 km. north of Jaffa on April 11th 1909. The documentary is made in cooperation with the Jerusalem Cinematheque and the Steven Spielberg Jewish Film Archive. … Read entire article »
