Can’t you see I’m walking on air?
Thursday, December 24th at 20:00 will be the official opening of the exhibition: “Can’t you see I’m walking on air” in the Chelouche Gallery (Chissin Street no. 5). The group exhibition is within a year to Gideon Gechtman‘s demise (November 27th/2008) and is curated by Nira Itzhaki. Artists who will take part are: Ori Drummer, Gideon Gechtman , Ben Hagari, Erez Israeli, Miki Kratsman, Hila Luli Lin, Motti Mizrachi, Mira Segal and Gal Weinstein. The exhibition is a gesture to Gideon Gechtman’s (born in 1942 in Alexandria, Egypt ) unique artistic language, and his influences as it finds its expression in the works of the exhibiting artists through myths of death, memory and commemoration. Green Landscapes by Eliora Schwartz-Steimatzky
A new beautiful, romantic exhibition: Green Landscapes, made by Eliora Schwartz-Steimatzky, will open on September the 16th at the Givataim Theatre. (closing date: October the 9th). Eliora was born in Beit Hakerem, Jerusalem. She grew up in Tel Aviv. At the age of 17, she started to study (1965 ) at the Bezalel Academy of Art in Jerusalem. After the army, she moved to New-York and worked for the art-publisher Harry N. Abrams. She continued her education in painting and sculpture at the League of New-York (1978 ). In the 1980s, she returned to Israel. Eliora Schwartz-Steimatzky returns the viewer to the mythical landscape paintings of Israeli artists of the 1950s and 1960s….works yearning to the Mediterranean scenery. Crowded opening at the Shem Zmani Gallery
Last Friday, August the 21st it was crowded at 12:00 at the opening of the Shem Zmani Gallery were 8 young Israeli artist were showing there unique art-works. Larissa Riahi received the 2nd Tel Aviv Fever Heineken bottle
As we wrote on July the 8th, we made 6 Tel Aviv Fever Heineken bottles (3 are in Israel, 3 in Holland). The first one went to Eytan Schwartz, the ‘big guy’ of all the Centennial events. Our second bottle we gave to: Larissa Riahi. She is original from Amiens (France), studied graphic design. In 2000 she came for six month to a kibbutz as a volunteer. Back in France she studied Art. She missed the life in Israel and she decided in 2005 to make ‘aliyah’ (permanent resident), not for political or religious reasons, just because the love for Israel. Tel Aviv hotel ranked 23rd in magazine’s hot list!
Conde Nast Traveller Magazine ranks boutique ‘Hotel Montefiori’ (at Montefiori Street no.36) as one of the top 70 hotels in the world for 2009: rank no.:..23 !!! The building, designed in 1922 in the ‘Eclectic’ style, was restored in 2000/2001. In 2002, Yoram and Elana Wakshlak opened in the building on the 2nd and 3rd floor the ‘Time for Art Center’ (a gallery). On the first floor they opened the restaurant ‘Artichoke’. The restaurant would finance the facility’s artistic activities. It soon became clear that this would not be possible and ‘with a heavy heart’, they closed the place after two and half years.
