News: Arik would like to be there…
Just a few minuts ago, Arik Einstein told Channel 22, that he would like to be at the concert in honor of him on July the 2nd (for his 70th birthday). This was the first (short) interview he gave, after 22 years!! He said he was honored by the tribute concert. And when the interviewer asked: “You will come?” Arik said first “NO” and then “Ok, don’t come to get me, I will come on my ‘toos-toos’ (=scooter)” The reporter said after: “So, he won’t come, because he has no a toos-toos!!” … Read entire article »

The first color film of Tel Aviv
Herewith the first color film of Tel Aviv, made by an English soldier in the beginning of 1930. On the film (more then 4 minutes) you will see the building-work on the first white Bauhaus-buildings, Herzl Street and the Gymnasium-Herzliya, that was brutally ‘torn down’ by the municipality of Tel Aviv, Allenbey Street, the first Muncipality building on Bialik Square, some nice shots of Tel Aviv beach with the famous ‘Kadar’ -restaurant (a long time ago ‘destroyed’) and the fantastic Mugrabi Cinema on the corner of Allenbey- and Ben-Gurion Street, that was ‘pulled- down’ (this crime was done by 3 CAT-buldozers) in December 1995 and this spot, is until today..a ‘bloody’ parking place!! Without Arik, it is no ‘real’ celebration!!
Arik (Arieh) Einstein, songwriter/singer was born on January 3rd 1939 in Tel-Aviv. He dominated the Tel-Aviv bohemia scene for many years with his beautiful songs, films an tv-scetches. Helas, the last 20 years, we didn’t saw Arik on stage, in the clubs or on Israeli TV; he just stayed home :-( A 100 year Tel-Aviv celebrations,without Arik Einstein would be sad.
