There must be Another Way
This Sunday-evening, December 6th,the international premiere of Another Way, directed by Yariv Mozer, took place in the Cinematheque Tel Aviv. Another Way is a powerful, sometimes emotional documentary with a strong message. It is the story of Noa and Mira Awad, an Israeli Jew and Israeli Arab duo, who went to the Eurovision Songfestival 2009, during the last Israeli military operation in Gaza and strong resistance from the left and right in Israel. Gay and lesbian couples wed at Pride Parade!
On June the 12th 2009, Tel Aviv will have his 11th annual Pride Parade. This time with an event, organizers believe to be the first ever for such an event anywhere in the world and certainly in Israel: Gal Uchovsky, journalist and film-producer, will marry two couples: one gay and one lesbian pair. A campaign will be launched on the website: gogay.co.il , seeking couples interested in being wed as part of the event to submit their candidacy. The idea is to wed the couples on one of the stages during the Parade. The couples to bewedded during the Parade, will receive certificates from the ‘family-right’ organization New Family. Legend in the Dunes
A 50 segments special documentary Legend of the Dunes is made by film director Yaakov Gross, to celebrate Tel Aviv’s birthday (1909 – 2009). There are scenes of the Britsh High Commissioner Herbert Samuel (1920) seen visiting the Gymnasium Herzliya; scenes about the disarry at the dedication of the Great Synagoge (1933) at Allenby Street; the visit to Tel Aviv (1925) by Lord Balfour and General George Allenby (1933) and…the famous ‘lottery’ for building plot’s in the dunes, 3 km. north of Jaffa on April 11th 1909.
