A new face for Tel Aviv Fever: NOW

I am not really the type for good intentions for a new year, but so once you get to the end of a year you still tend to have thoughts like that. Since we made our jump start in March of last year we didn’t change much on Tel Aviv Fever. Some changes of the engine (WordPress) and some minor details. Now Frits and I thought it would be nice to change the face of Tel Aviv Fever (later), to give it a new fresh look and a few other possibilities and features you might like. We decided to do it NOW. But this is still Tel Aviv Fever: lightweight (technicaly speaking) entertaining a fresh look on Tel Aviv nice looking our ‘old’ style of writing lot’s of, and we mean LOTS of  love for Tel Aviv We will come … Read entire article »

Last tickets, please…

A fantastic article (“Last tickets, please”) I found in the Jerusalem Post of August 7 by Sybil Ehrlich about the old Central busstation (Oh, those memories..!!) of Tel Aviv. The Tel Aviv landmark ceased to exist last week. After 68 years (it opened in July 1941) the old Central busstation has been demolished. I remember it all…this crowded, noisy place, with his shouting and loud music from 10 different small shops. For my bus to Afula (my kibbutz was near Beth Shean) you had to go to one of the side-streets (I never forget this small record-shop on the corner). And then this toilets in this enormous, large ‘brown’ building… I can still ‘smell it’. Behind this ‘brown toilets-building, near the small newspapers (and the first ‘porn’ magazines in Israel ;-) … Read entire article »

Thoughts, prayer and pictures

Our thoughts are with the families that lost their children or have them wounded physically, or mentally… Bradley Burston of Ha’aretz wrote this beautiful prayer called: “A straight’s prayer for young Israelis shot for being gay” [before on Tel Aviv Fever] … Read entire article »

Larissa Riahi received the 2nd Tel Aviv Fever Heineken bottle

As we wrote on July the 8th, we made 6 Tel Aviv Fever Heineken bottles (3 are in Israel, 3 in Holland). The first one went to Eytan Schwartz, the ‘big guy’ of all the Centennial events. Our second bottle we gave to: Larissa Riahi. She is original from Amiens (France), studied graphic design. In 2000 she came for six month to a kibbutz as a volunteer. Back in France she studied Art. She missed the life in Israel and she decided in 2005 to make ‘aliyah’ (permanent resident), not for political or religious reasons, just because the love for Israel. Tel Aviv would be here ‘new’ town. She loves art (painting and clay works), music and her openness brings her to meet different cultures and people. At this moment … Read entire article »
