Habima, from National Theater to Shopping Mall
A few days ago, the Municipality of Tel Aviv decided to add another NIS 10 million to the never ending Habima (Tel Aviv’s National Theater) saga. The start-budget in 2007 was NIS 31 million, today the counter stands on: NIS160 million! For more then 3 years there is a large construction-site in the middle of Tel-Aviv. A few weeks ago the subcontractor of the project went to court and tried to stop the ‘renovation’ work, because of miss-management by the main-contractor. Ruth Ronen of the Tel Aviv District Court said that the ‘renovation’ work can continue, but that tests of the structure also must continue and its stability and safety must be confirmed before the building can be used. The big question is: When will the building have it’s … Read entire article »

A new face for Tel Aviv Fever: NOW
I am not really the type for good intentions for a new year, but so once you get to the end of a year you still tend to have thoughts like that. Since we made our jump start in March of last year we didn’t change much on Tel Aviv Fever. Some changes of the engine (WordPress) and some minor details. Now Frits and I thought it would be nice to change the face of Tel Aviv Fever (later), to give it a new fresh look and a few other possibilities and features you might like. We decided to do it NOW. But this is still Tel Aviv Fever: lightweight (technicaly speaking) entertaining a fresh look on Tel Aviv nice looking our ‘old’ style of writing lot’s of, and we mean LOTS of love for Tel Aviv We will come … Read entire article »
