On last Monday evening, December the 19th, the premiere took place of the documentary Sof LeSipur (The End), directed by Barak Heymann in the beautiful new wing (opened 3 weeks ago) of the Cinematheque Tel Aviv. Bauhaus building as set for new Israeli movie
A Bauhaus-building in the Dov-Hoz Street no. 8 was used a few weeks ago as set for a new Israeli feature: Snails in the Rain, directed by Yariv Mozer, produced by Hila Aviram and based on a short story by Yossi Avni Levy. Life in Stills: getting award after award!!
We did write a few times before about the touching documentary: Life in Stills, directed by Tamar Tal, produced by Barak Heymann, cinematography by Daniel Kedem and music by Alberto Schwartz, about the famous Photo House Pri-Or (Allenby Street 30) and the struggle of Miriam Weissenstein (96) and her grandson Ben Peters to keep their shop from being destroyed. Last Thursday-evening 98 minutes documentary The Flat, directed by Arnon Goldfinger received the Award for Best Documentary at the Ophir Awards 2011 (the ‘Israeli Oscars’). The short movie ‘Transparent Black’, directed by young Israeli director Roni Geffen did a great job at last month ‘FlickerFest’, the 20th. International Short Film Festival at Bondi Beach in Sydney. Historic Cinema Tel Aviv is gone…
The Cinema Tel Aviv, build in 1958, in the Pinsker Street, near Dizengoff Square, was destroyed last week. Another historic building is gone… On the same spot will the 18 floors Tel Aviv Cinema Tower arise (building cost $100 million).
