More supporters: Never destroy a historic building
I did found this most interesting article in the Ha’aretz newspaper about the preservation of historic buildings in the city. As the frequent readers of Tel Aviv Fever will know, we support restoration and renovation projects in the inner-city for 100% and are fully against a destruction of an (important) historic building. An historic building is a part of the culture and history of the city, never destroy it! … Read entire article »

Cyclist in Tel Aviv: Kings of the Pavement
I love cycling, I love Tel Aviv, but the combination of the two is a bit complicated. Being in Tel Aviv for two great weeks again made me realize that cyclist in Tel Aviv are the Kings of the Pavement. Okay, at least, this is what they think… With high speed, with ringing bells, getting mad and having no respect for pedestrians they rule the pavement as their kingdom. This is quite an experience. As a … Read entire article »
Telavivians and their dogs
Something that caught my eye and brain is that there are so many dogs in Tel Aviv now… And their owners are in the age of more or little after military service…. Would it be instead of kids or just as in-between? ;) I was pleasantly surprised about the fact that the streets are still so clean. I see quite some dogs (sorry: dog owners) that need some lessons, but there is almost no dog stuff on the street. Well done! (or did I miss something? ;-) If so, please tell me!) … Read entire article »
View on Peace Wall from Peres Peace House
My co-editor Frits told me and wrote about it on our site before. He is an art and architecture lover and I am a photographer. But now I have seen it with my own eyes, being on a guided tour with Frits. For me it is official now: The Peres Peace House is ugly! There are more reasons for that: it is an ugly building (of 15 million dollars), that looks like an Amsterdam parking house it is difficult to clean and so dirty already it is facing the sea and not the streets of Jaffa / Ajami There is one big benefit since a few weeks and from yesterday. The backside of the building, designed by Italian architect Massimillana Fuksas, faces the Peace Wall, the great artwork of Arabic and Jewish children, in the form … Read entire article »

Historic Cinema Tel Aviv is gone…
The Cinema Tel Aviv, build in 1958, in the Pinsker Street, near Dizengoff Square, was destroyed last week. Another historic building is gone… On the same spot will the 18 floors Tel Aviv Cinema Tower arise (building cost $100 million). The Cinema Tel Aviv was famous for his thick red carpet and the ‘iron curtain’… It was Hollywood in Tel Aviv !! What a shame :( … Read entire article »

Restoration work former Ben Nahum Hotel started
I think every Tel Avivian knows this spot on the corner of Allenby Street 118 and Rothschild Boulevard: the beautiful building with this very special rooftop: the once Ben-Nahum Hotel, designed in 1921 by Tel Aviv’s first city-engineer Judah Magidovitch, who designed more then 500 (!) buildings in Tel Aviv, between 1919 and 1951. After the hotel closed, there have been several different restaurants in de building. A month ago they started to restore this awesome building… … Read entire article »

British Airways favours Tel Aviv as destination in campaign
It is not the first time that Tel Aviv is chosen as a favorite destination, but now we are talking about a British Airways campaign to promote the city as one of ten good choices for a city break. We knew that already and telling everyone, but it is never bad to have another telling the same. ;-) The campaign will have ads on the web, in the London underground and some important British newspapers. One of the strong points in the campaign is that the Tel Aviv atmosphere is reachable within five hours. This is not the first time Tel Aviv is praised or ranked: one of the best beaches in the world, Tel Aviv: Miami of the Middle East and design hotel Montefiore that was ranked 23rd in a world hot … Read entire article »

Tel Aviv Culture Square, a beauty next to the beast
The frequent readers of our website will know by now, what we think of the radical ‘renovation’ of the Habima Theater. The moment they started with Habima, the Municipality also started to work on the new ‘Culture Square’, situated between Habima, the Mann Auditorium and the Helena Rubinstein Pavilion of Art. The huge square, once a parking lot, is newly designed by Dani Karavan… and: it looks absolutely awesome, with a lot of open spaces, greenery, water works, and with the parking now underneath the square. They are still working on the square, but I am sure, in a few months, this will be the place to be! … Read entire article »

Official Tel Aviv-Jaffa Guide for iPhone in App Store
It is in the iTunes App Store for several month now, but Tel Aviv has it own iPhone App, VISITLV. It was published by the The Association for Tourism Tel Aviv-Jaffa in May, more than in time for the summer season. A pity I did find it just a while ago. ;-) The app starts with one of the most a wonderful splash screens I have seen (I thought of surprising you by not showing it, but not everyone has an iPhone ;-) ) and contains information about the three Walking Routes we talked about before, cafés, pubs, restaurants, museums, hotels, free guided tours and of course a ‘What’s On’-calendar, which, to my opinion, could be more extensive and more up-to-date… ;-) It is possible to search for the name of a restaurant, … Read entire article »
