Green Landscapes by Eliora Schwartz-Steimatzky

A new beautiful, romantic exhibition: Green Landscapes, made by Eliora Schwartz-Steimatzky, will open on September the 16th at the Givataim Theatre. (closing date: October the 9th). Eliora was born in Beit Hakerem, Jerusalem. She grew up in Tel Aviv. At the age of 17, she started to study (1965 ) at the Bezalel Academy of Art in Jerusalem. After the army, she moved to New-York and worked for the art-publisher Harry N. Abrams. She continued her education in painting and sculpture at the League of New-York (1978 ). In the 1980s, she returned to Israel. Eliora Schwartz-Steimatzky returns the viewer to the mythical landscape paintings of Israeli artists of the 1950s and 1960s….works yearning to the Mediterranean scenery. Dvir Gallery opens new spacious site in Jaffa Port

On Tuesday, September 8th at 18:00 will be the official opening of a new space by the famous Dvir Gallery in the old Jaffa Port (Hangar 2). The opening-solo show will be by the artist Douglas Gordon. This is the 3rd time that Gordon will show his art-work for Dvir Gallery (in 1988 and in 2008). This time at the new space of the gallery, Gordon wil present a selection of the large-scale video projections made for his 2008 retrospective in Avignon, France. The installation is especially adapted to the gallery’s spacious new site. Crowded opening at the Shem Zmani Gallery

Last Friday, August the 21st it was crowded at 12:00 at the opening of the Shem Zmani Gallery were 8 young Israeli artist were showing there unique art-works. Art-exhibition in Dizingoff Center

From Friday, August 21st until Friday August 28th there will be a group art(installations) exhibition at the 2nd floor (the new fashion zone) of Dizengoff Center in Gallery: Shem Zmani (next to Nike and Mango). Curators from the group-exhibition are: Gil Cohen, Gili Zaidman and Nitsan Volansky. Tel Aviv is burning

No, there is no need to call the fire department, but if you have been here in Tel Aviv the last few weeks, you probably have felt that hell came down to visit. This Friday noon I hang out with a friend in Neve Tzedek. I’m used to the fact that in summer there is less traffic  (Israeli’s do travel), but both me and my friend were a little surprised to see only a small amount of people in the streets, many of them being French tourists. Even the  coffee shops were not very occupied. It seems that we, the rough and tough Israelis were defeated by the sun. Exhibition at the Mani House

Last Friday I saw in the Jerusalem Post this large, beautiful advertisement, designed in the old Dutch ‘De Stijl’ fashion, about the Second Exhibition: Contemporary Art from Collections of The Israel Museum, Jerusalem in the Mani House at Jehuda Ha- Leviestreet no. 36. The Mani House ( 1909) was the second house that was designed in Tel Aviv and restored a few years ago by the architect Amnon Bar-Or.
