Contemporary ballet company Complexions in Tel Aviv Opera House
The famous American contemporary ballet company Complexions will give three shows in the Tel Aviv Opera House (TAPAC). The company was founded in New York in 1994 by artistic director, choreographer Dwight Rhoden. The New York Times wrote a few month ago: “Dwight Rhoden’s choreography is like molten lava, flowing with staggering force…”. Oscar for Short documentary about Tel Aviv: Strangers No More [with trailer]
Breaking News: A few hours ago the short documentary: ‘Strangers No More’, directed by Karen Goodman and Kirk Simon (from New York: the Simon & Goodman Pictures Company) received an Academy Award (Oscar) for ‘Best Short Documentary’. View on Peace Wall from Peres Peace House
My co-editor Frits told me and wrote about it on our site before. He is an art and architecture lover and I am a photographer. But now I have seen it with my own eyes, being on a guided tour with Frits. For me it is official now: The Peres Peace House is ugly! There are more reasons for that: it is an ugly building (of 15 million dollars), that looks like an Amsterdam parking house it is difficult to clean and so dirty already it is facing the sea and not the streets of Jaffa / Ajami There is one big benefit since a few weeks and from yesterday. Homage to Avigdor Arikha at Tel Aviv Museum of Art
The Tel Aviv Museum of Art will tribute a homage to the Romanian born Israeli painter Avigdor Arikha, who died last April the 29th. The exhibition will be in two parts. The first part, planned with the artist before his death, at the age of 81, includes illustrations to S.Y. Agnon‘s ‘A Stray Dog’ , woodcuts and drawings made during the 1950′s and represent Arikha’s development from the figurative to the abstracts. The second part presents 19 self-portraits: the earliest from 1948 and later ones with his image as a painter, working and observing himself, against the background of the studio and its surroundings.
