Within a few couple of month Tel Aviv will be having free WiFi (or wireless internet) on about 80 sites (!) around the city. Motorola Solutions is the company that won the tender to establish the infrastructure throughout the city.
Every access point (AP) will have a capacity of at least 20 Mbit (Megabit) and will be on different sites, like parks in the city, Old Jaffa, and of course along the coast and boulevards, to name just a few.
Tel Aviv is said to be not the first city to provide free wifi, but will be the first city to enroll it throughout the city on this large scale.
It has never been difficult to find wifi signal in Tel Aviv in venues, restaurants, and bars, but to be honest you not always want to drink a coffee, beer or Coke to have a connection. Having wifi while lying in a park, sitting on a bench not close to a restaurant is nice, VERY VERY NICE!!! :-D
