“Letter from Tel Aviv”
I did find a very interesting article about the architecture of Tel Aviv in the Metropolis Magazine by James Trainor: ‘Letter from Tel Aviv’.
I agree a 100% with him about his comments in connection with the Peres Center for Peace, at Kedemstreet no.132 in the Ajami neighborhood in Jaffa. The building, designed by the Italian architect Massimillana Fuksas is a enormous green concrete block and doesn’t fit at all in his surroundings. The only open view is towards the sea and towards the street the heavy construction is closed off, like a safe, windowless, doorless and forbidding instead of inviting. It is the wrong building in the wrong place. The costs, NIS 55 million (around $ 15 million ) was 3 times (!) more then the original forecast.
[costs corrected]

Every Wednesday there is an open tour at the Peres Peace House on 18:00PM, you can get there all the answers to your questions. You will be surprise to learn some interesting facts about the building.
By the way – you mentioned a wrong cost – I happen to know that it was built in half of this sum – 15$ million dollars.
Shira,Thanks for your comment..
It still stays a ugly building,sorry..
About the cost: this was from an article in Haaretz…
I do tours in AJAMI and I did not hear one good word about the building from the locals and the people who are living across the street from the building..Instead at looking at the sea, there are looking now at an enormous block green concrete.
One of the inhabitants told me,that two years ago there was an enormous party to celebrate the Center ( party costs: NIS 1.2 million) with guest from all over the world..NOBODY of the neighborhood was invited……
Shira,
You are right!!
It was $15 milion..So,for this I am sorry..I will ask my editor to change it in the main text..it was 3x times more then the original forecast..
