Tel Aviv to get first anthroposophic school
Tel Aviv will get for the coming school year the first Waldorf school in the country. Until now there were only dozens of antroposophic kindergardens around the country.
Antroposophy, based on a spiritual philosophy, was founded in 1912 in Dornach (Switzerland) by Rudolf Steiner. They developed their own forms of architecture and already in the 20s had their own biodynamic agriculture, long before the so-called ‘green’ movements. In the Waldorf education on the schools, world-wide, all forms of art plays an important role.
A building in Jaffa, dating from the Ottoman era, is currently undergoing renovation and repair work ahead of the September 1 opening. The school, at this moment, is not State supported, so the parents will pay between NIS 300 and NIS 1500 (depending on the earnings of the family) a month.
