77 Steps, a love story in Tel Aviv
“It’s a story of love in the city, far away from home and family, chasing dreams on the gritty pavements, walking up endless flights of stairs, looking from dilapidated balconies into the brilliant white Mediterranean sun, surrounded by crowds, looking for a friend, a job, an apartment, creating live. At night the colors of the city creating live, there’s a party on the roof, the music is right and the meet…” wrote Ayelet Dekel in a review about 77 Steps, a documentary directed by Ibtisam Mara’ana, that was screened a few days ago at the 27th Jerusalem Film Festival.
It is a love story of the (woman) director, moving from a Muslim village in the North of the country to Tel Aviv and her Jewish-Canadian neighbor Jonathan. The documentary is fast-paced, vibrant and full of colors as the city in which it takes place: Tel Aviv!!
