“A little help from ‘some’ friends…..”

Herewith a picture of a Bauhaus building (1934) in the Frishman Street no.22. The building needs badly a restoration : as you can see, during the years the inhabitants of the building, closed some of the balconies (extra-room) and did put ugly, plastic sun-shades on the top-floor. We are waiting for Spencer Tunick

Spencer Tunick, born on January 1st 1967, is the American ‘nude people installation’ artist with, until now, more then 70 of his art-projects worlwide (Dublin, Amsterdam, Mexico City, Rome, London, Helsinki, Maine, Barcelona, etc.) His art-projects are involving sometimes more then 18.000 nude people. Ari Fruchter, Board member of The Tel Aviv Museum of Art, started a few weeks ago an action (on Facebook) called: ‘Bring Spencer Tunick to Israel’ . He wrote: “Help make history in Israel and prove the sceptics wrong by showing that Israeli’s are open minded and free…” and: “We’re organizing a large scale photo installation in Israel for Spencer Tunick, along with a documentary (‘Naked Israel’) and a museum exhibition.” Yes, let’s prove it!!! Les Ballets du Monte Carlo’ in Tel Aviv

Exhibition at the Mani House

Last Friday I saw in the Jerusalem Post this large, beautiful advertisement, designed in the old Dutch ‘De Stijl’ fashion, about the Second Exhibition: Contemporary Art from Collections of The Israel Museum, Jerusalem in the Mani House at Jehuda Ha- Leviestreet no. 36. The Mani House ( 1909) was the second house that was designed in Tel Aviv and restored a few years ago by the architect Amnon Bar-Or. The exhibition, curated by Suzanne Landau and Amitai Mendelsohn, will be on display until December this year and is brought to Tel Aviv by Bank Leumi. … Read entire article »

Nachum Gutman’s mosaic to Rothschild

The famous mosaic made by Nachum Gutman, once on Bialik Square, will find a place now on the western edge of Rothschild Boulevard near the ‘Africa Israel’ building. Pieces of the mosaic were temporarily placed in a Tel Aviv garbage truck parking lot (!!) due to the renovation of the Bialik square. George Gershwin evening

On June 22nd at 20:00 there will be an evening of Gershwin classics at the TAPAC Center, conducted by Asher Fisch and with the soprano Janinah Burnett and the tenor Derrick Alton. Tomorrow: Pride Parade

Don’t forget that tomorrow morning at 13:00 12:00 the Pride Parade will start at Gan Meir (Meir Park) and will arive at about 14:00 at Gordon Beach.
