Last Friday I saw in the Jerusalem Post this large, beautiful advertisement, designed in the old Dutch ‘De Stijl’ fashion, about the Second Exhibition: Contemporary Art from Collections of The Israel Museum, Jerusalem in the Mani House at Jehuda Ha- Leviestreet no. 36. The Mani House ( 1909) was the second house that was designed in Tel Aviv and restored a few years ago by the architect Amnon Bar-Or. The exhibition, curated by Suzanne Landau and Amitai Mendelsohn, will be on display until December this year and is brought to Tel Aviv by Bank Leumi.

I went to the exhibition yesterday: it is small but there are some real beauties! Definitely worth a visit, which is free anyway. (the advertisement looks great too)
I like the works of Amnon Bar-Or and yes the ads looks fine
In other research I have done I read that all the houses built in Tel-Aviv (circa 1909) have since been destroyed. Does the Mani House really date to that time?
Rita,the MANI-HOUSE( the 2nd house ) was build during the ACHUZAT-BAIT period(1909-1911) and restored by Amnon Bar-Or.
The AKIVA WEISS house was build in 1909(true,he added in 1932 a floor) and was restored too by Amnon Bar-Or.The French Institute today,on the corner of Herzl-street and Rothschild-boulevard was the 9th house of Tel-Aviv( also here was a floor added in 1934).Amnon Bar-Or restored the building in 2004/5 and added an other floor.Just a few examples…
Thanks so much
